Recently, many NJ National Guardsmen stationed at the Teaneck, NJ Armory returned home from a tour of duty in Iraq. While they were overseas, the American economy went into decline resulting in the closing of plants and businesses. When they returned home, an inordinate number of these veterans discovered that they no longer had civilian jobs.
Since jobs are so difficult to find, some of these soldiers subsequently volunteered for redeployment to the Middle East in order to provide for their families.
The Family Assistance Center at the Teaneck Armory has a Food Pantry to help these veterans and their families. Since the need is so great, the Pantry empties quickly. Should it be necessary, the Family Assistance Center also helps these needy families pay their housing and utility bills.
The VFW is an organization whose mission is to help veterans and their families. VFW Post 5702 and the Corvair Club will be donating any and all profits from the Spring Tune-up Cruise-in to the Family Assistance Center at the Teaneck Armory.
If anyone would like to donate to our 2007/2008 projects it would be very helpful. This year we are raising money for the Fisher House Foundation at Walter Reed Hospital and for The Wounded Warrior Project.
